Is TV Coming to Letterboxd? What We Know So Far.

While limited series and miniseries have long been allowed on Letterboxd, multi-season shows have not — an arbitrary dividing line that some people wish were erased completely. This has been a point of debate among the community. Some members argue TV doesn’t belong on Letterboxd at all, that it should remain a space exclusively for films. Others worry that adding television seasons or individual episodes could overwhelm their feeds and clutter the experience. An often-suggested middle ground is to silo TV behind tabs or filters, making it easy for users to avoid it if they wish.
This debate has played out on Letterboxd’s Nolt board, a public tool for user feedback and product requests. A long-standing ticket there asks for the ability to “Add multi-season / returning TV shows.” In 2021, Letterboxd staff replied directly to that request:
“Our current policy is that we allow limited and miniseries, with very few exceptions. Returning TV shows are a future possibility.”
Momentum for this possibility picked up in 2023, when Letterboxd sold a majority stake of its business to Tiny, a Canadian investment firm. In announcing the deal, the company’s founders mentioned they were actively working toward integrating TV into the platform. Speaking to Variety, Letterboxd co-founder Matt Buchanan explained that TV “has been on the cards for several years,” and confirmed they had been prototyping it. He noted that the biggest concern among users was that the platform could be “overrun by people binge-watching Friends,” but he stressed that it would be designed to fit into the experience with minimal disruption.
Early the next year, the company spoke more directly about timing. In January 2024, someone posting from the official Letterboxd X account wrote that “series will be coming later this year.”

Since the post, nearly a year went by without an update or announcement from Letterboxd on the matter.
Then, in December 2024, the long-standing Nolt ticket was officially updated to “in progress” — perhaps the clearest sign yet that Letterboxd is actually building the feature.
But we’re more than halfway through 2025 now, and no additional updates have been made.
